Galaxy Watch 7 smartwatch now has a “For Kids” mode

Samsung has added Galaxy Watch for Kids mode to the Galaxy Watch 7 smartwatch.

The new mode allows children to use the smartwatch to make calls and text messages only with trusted contacts, and parents to track their children’s location using GPS. The feature is already available, but is currently supported exclusively on Verizon, T-Mobile, and AT&T networks in the United States.

Parents are now able to control which apps can be installed on the watch. In addition, the School Time mode was added, which restricts access to certain functions during school hours.

We also developed 20 teacher-approved apps and watch faces specifically for children, which can be found in the Google Play Kids section. These include Barbie and Marvel-themed watch faces, as well as games from PBS Kids and Crayola. Other third-party applications are also available for download, but their installation requires parental approval.

Previously, the Galaxy Watch could be set up as a separate device with mobile connectivity for children, but parents had to set up location tracking and parental control functions themselves. The new mode greatly simplifies this process, making it more convenient and accessible.
